Hi there I’m almost 34 and have the same issues (I have for all my life-it’s genetic). I’m super princessy when it comes to my sleep. I have to do my ritual or it won’t happen lol. I take my nightly Xanax, melatonin, & cup of tea. Then I chill a glass of ice water to put next to me before I get into bed and brush & floss/use the bathroom. I also put my phone on DND mode & charge it. THEN I turn my fan on for white noise and take my slumber mask out of the freezer. I feel like a psycho now explaining all of that but maybe a part of it might help??? I’ve like had to get it down to a science 🤣🛌💤

@qveenofthecastles hi! I’ve been trying the same thing! I have had a good experience. But my doc said that I can’t take sleep meds anymore because of a fear of serotonin syndrome which led me to these methods.

@MelissaLY which meds were you taking?.
Yes I have such trouble sleeping. I take meds not specifically for sleeping but they help put me to sleep at night. Unfortunately I can't get to sleep without them. Lately I've been sleeping quite poorly, even with them. Waking up in the middle of the night unable to go back to sleep. I also have nightmares so that doesn't help. If you want to talk to your doctor just tell them you have insomnia and you have trouble getting to sleep at a reasonable hour, and staying asleep, or getting enough sleep etc. And that you'd like something to help you with that.
@SalineTurnip thank you! 😊
Yup—if left to my own devices, I might fall asleep anywhere between 1am and 6am, depending on how much anxiety and pain/discomfort are contributing to sleeplessness. I recently started prescription melatonin (Ramelteon) though, and, while it’s not a silver bullet, it’s definitely an improvement.
@aldrwytch my bf has told me in the past that I should talk to my psychiatrist about a different medicine to be put on that will help me sleep, but idk how to talk to my doctor about it.
Hi, Gina! I'm Kitt and since I turned 26 (I'm 28 now) I've had just the worst insomnia. I'll go months being able to sleep -with lupus and chronic fatigue, it's easy....until I hit a few months in a row where I just can't sleep for aaaaanything.
@Kinns it's taking a toll on me now that I'm 34. I just can't stay up until all hours of the night anymore like I used to.
