very nervous about having an upper scope done. I thought the doc said I'd be put under, but when I looked at the office website about what to expect, it said I would NOT be put under. Nom I'm extra nervous. I hate hate hate needles, and I'm too scared to even make the appointment

They didn’t believe me about my anxiety when I said I needed putting out so they tried placing an NJ tube once and tried getting started before sedation had fully kicked in, well apparently I almost punched the surgeon and my heart rate skyrocketed and I seizured from all the stress. Needless to say, I am now down for full knockout for anything and everything 😂😂

@Spoonie94 I fought of a dentist once while heavily medicated, I probably need sedation 🤣

Where are you based? In the US they tend to put people under, but I'm in the UK, and I've had a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy and I was sedated for them but no anaesthesia. If you're UK based, happy to answer any questions you've got x

You'll be put under I promise. It's a quick procedure. I've had it done ment times. Call the office and ask them why it says that on their website.

They could do a light sedation where you're in dream sedation type thing. I would call to find out they'll answer questions

hm that's weird that they said they wouldn't put you under, I thought ppl had to be put under for it! I had one done last year and am also horrified of needles and that was def the worst part but other than that it's actually pretty chill! IV anaesthesia doesn't rlly make you nauseous and I just felt kind of silly and sleepy! Best of luck, hopefully you find a doctor who makes it as easy and comfortable as possible!

I've had several scopes, and I've always been put under for them.
