Hi. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on overthinking and how to control it. My partner and I have been together for a few years now and I still think that they're seeing someone else, even though they have told me repeatedly that they aren't and haven't given me any reason to think that way. They even let me go through their phone. So I realize that my feelings don't make sense but I can't stop them. When I start overthinking I usually get really angry or really sad. I push them away. It's causing issues in our relationship. Does anyone have any advice?

Same exact thing for me. I've had my fiance write why he loves me, and I review that when I start getting paranoid. Someone also mentioned making a list with the facts and what he does for you, and review that.

I put my concentration into something else lately it is splatter painting
You have a great partner, that's a plus. Writing those thoughts down is a terrific idea.

This is easier said than done but, set a time to overthink. If you start to overthink outside of that time, STOP IT. Set an alarm for an hour or so. Slowly work on reducing the time. The goal is to get down to less than 30 minutes. *Make sure you start at the same time everyday* Anything outside that time limit? STOP. The second you notice your thoughts spiraling, INTERRUPT them! Put on a show, go on a walk, distract yourself! Repeat as needed. 💕 Like I said, this extremely hard to do, but it has worked amazing for me.💕 Also, please remember this app isn't therapy, and I suggest getting help from an expert in this field.
@TheRealHope I need to add, it's important to process your thoughts and not just have them. Try writing them down, I find it easier to recognize and believe them irrational outside of my head.
@TheRealHope this is great advice! Instead of bugging my partner with my crazy panic thoughts, I can just write it down. such a good idea🙌
I find talking to someone. I call my sister if I find I'm spiraling. If you don't have someone who is easy support writing can help. I find its easier to process my thoughts when I take them out of my body and sort through them through conversation or putting it on a page.
Dude I just posted a similar comment! I use about 5mg of an edible to get me through those moments. It's so stressful when your mind is moving a million miles a second
I do the same thing. That's one reason I've been single since 2015. I would say try to fact check as much as you can, and maybe try therapy if it gets too bad? That way you have someone to talk to about it.
