I don't feel like I deserve to say I have chronic pain. I can typically ignore my pain, and it very rarely causes me extreme discomfort. I've also been told I have a low pain tolerance, so I don't know if everyone has back and joint pain like this and it just affects me more because I'm a wimp. I feel like an imposter if I try to say I have chronic pain when there are people who really suffer from it. How much of my life does my pain have to effect for me to be comfortable defining it as chronic pain?

You are not an imposter at all if you are suffering from pain daily it means chronic pain. I have always been told I have a low pain tolerance but I always have that much pain in my body that I have an incredibly high one which no one seems to notice, it can be hard for yourself to determine whether you have chronic pain but don’t put yourself down, I did and that led to a hard journey but after a few years I’ve finally come to terms that it’s just something that’s there and I’ve learnt to be myself and speak to similar people who helped me realise that

Chronic means persistant/constant or recurring, so it's something that is a long-term condition like ours it is chronic. I'm really suffering with my ankles, back and wrists. The pain can flip sides often during one day. It's horrible but I can still perform ADL's most days

Being in pain daily = chronic pain. You don't have to be screaming and writhing around on the floor in pain everyday for it to be chronic. The normal level of pain is no pain, and even "bearable" pain can become unbearable over time simply because of the endlessness of it

Your pain and your experience with it are just as valid as everyone else’s ❤️
If your pain is daily, it’s chronic. It doesn’t have to massively hinder you for it to be valid. Other people’s experience with their chronic pain has nothing to do with your own; we all go through our own journey, with our own symptoms, and it should never be a competition of ‘who’s worse’. It’s completely ok to say you have chronic pain, but I understand that validating our own pain without brushing it off is a difficult thing to get through. I’ve found accepting these things so much easier when speaking to people who are in a similar position. You are well within your rights to say you have chronic pain and own it 💕
