I strained my neck about 8 years ago, and a couple years after I started having my neck go into spasm and be incredibly painful off and on with increasing frequency. Advil and Aleve barely touch it. I eventually went to the chiropractor, I have lordosis, my neck is basically completely straight and not curved. It was like $1500 to go for a couple months. That alleviated the frequency of spasm for a number of months and then I went to the chiropractor again when I couldn't handle it anymore, rinse and repeat. Doc doesn't take any of this seriously, just do some stretching. My psychiatrist was the only one willing to give me muscle relaxers, after dealing with this - missing work, shutting down for a day - for like 5 years. I take a half and I'm able to recover in about an hour, and even make it to work. GP wouldn't re-up this year. I'm only 28. I tried acupuncture this week, instead of trying a follow up with PT, seemed to help some. Ice sometimes helps some. I just have to baby it, and try to keep my stress and tension down. 1/10 chance I just wake up having aggravated it.

Radiofrequency ablation last from six months to a year. I will have that procedure next week and I will let y'all know how's it turns out.

I’ve been having success recently with Botox injections in the neck and Diazepam for muscle relaxation.
Hey wiry, I was referred to an orthopaedist that used a treatment called cervical medial branch block. He said the treatment is intended to diagnose whether some joint is the pain source. The treatment really alleviated the pain for a few hours so the test is considered positive. I was told that the permanent treatment is cervical radio frequency ablation. I’m still wondering whether I should do it or try other stuff…

@Norah RFI isn't permanent, unfortunately, and the success rate isn't spectacular
