what helps you with burnout in relationships?

      Communication doesnt have to look like talking. If at all a different type of communication is better for you in the moment it can be very helpful having ways to express it. Sometimes I am so drained that I cannot speak (i have a speech disorder but its not the only thing) so we switch to text messaging (sometimes just one of us) while I recover even if in the same room. Other times I just ask for space cause Im shutting down and any talking will insight pain. I can always explain things further when I recover. If you need that flexibility your partner should work with you on it but they might need help understanding why.

      I live with my NT boyfriend, and he knows I need time alone. We usually spend half the evening in separate rooms and then come together for an hour or so before bed. Having someone that you can speak honestly to and don’t have to mask around is very important.
