What tips does everyone have to manage either the positive or negative schizoaffective symptoms? For example, I am short sighted and if I want to know if it's a visual hallucination or not I take my glasses off. If it stays clear I know it isn't real.

Ok so I can tell you that with my own experiences with myself and my child whom is now 20 whom suffered 4 psychotic breaks with consistent hallucinations in which turn in full schizophrenia I managed his med in takes and got them breaks to stop by adding lamectal and is stable how if your are doing and drinking or nicotine I would recommend you stop it can alternate your neurology and replace it with ashawanda if you have a psychiatrist. I would ask first if you can mix it with ashawanda which is a natural naturopathic herb. I know for a fact that you cannot take certain kinds of herbs at all or your meds will stop working or it can create issues. So ashawanda I know you can take if you feel stressed or sleep in which I use this for or anxiety too. They sell this on Amazon nature's way is a good brand there are others you use too like Mary Ruth's or Dr.Burge. However, if you are still having symptoms talk to your doctor you still have hallucinations while on antipsychotics. They may prescribe something different. Personally I stop all my meds and using natural pathic remedies you only do that if you have never experienced a psychic break or psychosis. Specifically to the question above why are you having hallucinations still do you take meds or not? If not and your still having to do that would you explain that symptom to your doctor to adjust your meds?

I managed his med in take and realized that I have taken lamectal in which stabilized not just my mood but everything until I got used to it. Anyways by adding lamectal and he became stable and on it. I suggest if you are doing recreational drugs and drinking alcohol and I mean like drinking weekly or nicotine I would recommend you stop it. This can alternate your neurology and replace it with ashawanda please talk with your psychiatrist. I would ask first if you can mix it with ashawanda which is a natural naturopathic herb. Some tips for managing schizoaffective symptoms include: navigating through the symptoms without engaging in them, ignoring voices and focusing on something else, treating oneself to self-care activities like taking a bath or listening to calming music, relying on medication when necessary, and using coping skills such as recognizing hallucinations and grounding oneself in reality. One person mentioned taking a video of where they see a visual hallucination and watching it back once they've calmed down to determine if it's real or not. Another tip is to sleep with background noise, like rain videos, to help prevent auditory hallucinations.
