my boyfriend jokes around with everyone by calling them a hoe or other insulting words and i do stuff like that too, but when he does it with me i feel upset and hurt, i don’t joke with him like that but i do with everyone else. but i know that’s just him and him being himself and joking around, but still i feel hurt. i told him i need to take my meds because i forgot and he said “yeah take those, hoe” and it’s not that big of a deal and then he said “please don’t take that the wrong way” and the thing is i did. i’m anxious now and don’t want to make a big deal out of this small thing. i don’t want him to feel guilty but i know he will if i tell him. but keeping it in hurts and i just don’t know what to do.

🤗 I find that if you treat others as you would like to be treated after a while they come to treat you properly but you may have to be patient

It's important to communicate your feelings with your boyfriend. You can let him know that you understand he's joking, but it still hurts your feelings when he uses those words towards you. Ask him if he could avoid using those terms with you while still being able to joke around with others. This way, you're not asking him to change his entire personality, just to be more considerate of your feelings in this specific situation.
