Today is my birthday. And honestly I hate it. I hate how happy everyone else is. Because is shows me just how sad and depressed I am and how good I am at hiding it. That even though everyone else is truly smiling, not a single person can notice that mine is fake. I’m not sure I want to live anymore. I have two friends and neither of them even said hi. I’ve cried all day and I don’t know what to do. I have a degenerative disease and getting older means getting worse. I can’t do this anymore.

Hi, Knees! First of all, happy birthday ☻! I’m glad that you’re still here with us and I’m also glad that you decided to express how you truly feel, I see you and I am here with and for you. Now, I would like to touch base with your “perception”. Perception is what we interpret about certain things rather than giving an actual opinion about something, so basically, it’s just our understanding of a given situation. And in this case, your perception is that “everyone is happy”. Now Knees, the reality is that we don’t really know how people truly feel unless, of course, they provide us with important clues/information for us to get a better understanding of how they are feeling. Having said that, I think you should never compare your mental state/mood with one’s else’s because we are all individuals with different and unique lives. We all have different experiences, traumas, and life-changing events that make us who we are. Now, I would like you to think about something that you enjoy doing, or something that you think you would enjoy, like for example, watching a romantic movie, making a quick snack with delicious ingredients, writing a poem, listening to a podcast, paint your nails, etc. And if nothing comes to mind well just try something that I just mentioned. The point of this is to keep your mind occupied with positive activities, and who better to do it than yourself. This will also help you have a better relationship with yourself. Please, don’t forget that you’re not alone in this. There are so many of us who are going through the same situations. I’m so glad that these type of apps exist because it really does help us to be closer to one another. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and if you want to talk about something please do not hesitate and let me know, i’ll try my best to respond as soon as I see your response ☺️

Trust me when I say that people around you are probably going through tough things too, and it's ok to open up to them about how you're really doing. Faking and concealing the pain is a draining act and it can make you feel even worse. I've been there. I hope you can find at least one person you trust to open up to, and you can talk to me about it if you want. I sincerely wish you a Happy Birthday ❤
