I do not like taking my antidepressants. Lexapro hasn't done anything for me besides cause me to get phsycially addicted. when I first started taking it, it felt like there was electricity going through my bones and I needed to break them to stop it. it was good, and now it doesn't do anything for me, but everyone wants me to stay on it.

Quitting medication may not be the best option, but changing absolutely can be. I got put on medication that made me feel horrible and scared of all medication due to the long lasting affects it left, but quitting did solve it, and after time the new meds I'm on are really helping.

I never expected anything with Lexapro. It didn't help. It didn't give me any side effects. It was like I wasn't taking anything at all. Definitely talk to your doctor and don't let them try to wait it out.

Brain zaps suck but they do happen with a lot of antidepressants, unfortunately. Maybe its not the right one for you? Your doc can tell you other options/meds that have a longer half life which helps with the brain zaps.

I take lexapro & electricity going through your bones is such a good way to describe it. It feels like my bones are floating under my skin. But it makes life doable. I would say definitely talk to your doctor & tell them exactly what you typed here. I bet they will know how to help.

Lexapro is generally very generic and alot of people switch off after a while; i understand how you feel <3 just try and keep pushing for a switch!

@dederesdo ^^^^^ I've heard supposedly Lexapro is the best in terms of less side effects and the like but I personally had a really bad experience with it, I talked to my psychiatrist and they decided to switch me to Zoloft as well as a higher dosage and I'm feeling a lot better No specific med is for everyone! People's bodies react differently and meds are a lot of trial and error

Have you discussed alternatives with your provider? The right antidepressant shouldn't make you feel awful other than the occasional side effect. Maybe there's a different SSRI for you to try? I'm personally on Lexapro and am fine, but I was also prescribed Wellbutrin to help my depression, and it apparently also helps combat Lexapro symptoms. Maybe you could talk about adding Wellbutrin to your medications, or trying a different SSRI?

@CloverCorgi I haven't gone to the doctors just yet, but when I ask to change medicine the adults get almost mad? I know they want the best for me but I have had this problem for a bit and nothing has been changed
