I got a letter from my insurance saying I qualify for disability. I applied and got denied. I think I'm borderline for qualifying. But really struggle with work. I feel like everyone hates me and eventually get so anxious/hate my job so much I make myself sick. Any tips on how to help that? Broke college student only working 8.5 hours a week making not much more than minimum wage because this job is the best for me mentally. But I need to make more $ to survive.

Try appealing. I've known people who were denied but appealed and won. It might take more than one try and you can find an attorney to help

Get a lawyer, find one that will take your case pro bono. Best advice I can give.

You can still work on SSI, but there's a limit to how much you can earn per month and they reduce your check accordingly.

If you're able to work, you will not get disability. You could try for SSI but SSDI requires that you have worked X number of quarters and no longer can work. SSI is easier because it's for anyone with a disability and that is low income.

I recommend always appealing if you donā€™t agree with the decision, especially if you think thereā€™s important info they didnā€™t take into account. But before you do, try to figure more out about why they denied you. Sometimes itā€™s literally a matter of semantics or not seeing a doctor with a specific type of degree (ex: some wonā€™t approve if youā€™re seeing an LMFT, but will if you have the exact same treatment and diagnosis with an MD). You may also have luck finding a medical/disability coordinator too, but their quality really varies.
