If you want kids in a few years, you just have to plan to have kids in a few years. Getting a credit card would probably be a good idea too so you can set a foundational credit score. She should have already helped you do that, but even if she doesn't you can still get one. Make the mailing address a friend's and set everything to electronic for billing and stuff. A credit score is important for loans and rent just as much as showing an income.

No, but I never liked the idea of carrying children. My neurologist made sure to put me on lemotrigene, which he said was safest for women who may want biological kids down the line. Now when people ask me why I don't have/want to birth kids (like it's their business), I use epilepsy as an excuse. But it's really not dangerous if you're on the right meds. Doctors tend to think epilepsy is hereditary, so maybe that's why your parents are saying that?
