tonight I'm having some flashbacks about my rape and sexual assault case. I hate feeling this way. constantly scared of my surroundings and feeling hopeless. Sometimes when I'm walking in a hallway of people or a crowd and I get touched by someone on accident I almost start crying. I know it wasn't my fault but at the same time it was. I couldn't say no or I'd get beaten or guilt tripped. I was raped and sexually assaulted almost everyday for 3 years, and sexually assaulted by close friends or family multiple times. I don't know how to get over it and help myself forgive and forget. any suggestions on how to distract myself from these thoughts or PTSD episodes? :(

you do not have to forgive and forget. sa and rape are horrible things and no one can expected to forget or forgive that. your feelings are as valid as anybody else's no matter how the person who did it is related to you or if they are close to you or not. as for the flashbacks. I know its hard but I like to write down what I'm feeling and I know it's practically what every therapist, doctor and counselor says and I didn't believe it for a while but it really does work when you get into the hang of it. when you are having a flashback write down exactly what's happening. this can also help if your case is ongoing for evidence but overall. clears your mind. I also suggest seeking professional advice! stay safe ml.
