Overcoming Fear of Going to the Gynecologist

I have really bad health anxiety. This includes being scared I'll always get sick or be sick, or scared of doctors offices. One thing im struggling really hard with lately is getting a pap smear, or just going to a gynecologist in general. I'm terrified that they'll find out that i have some deathly illness. But i do know something is wrong. I just can't make the appointment. I'm way too scared. I wish I could ask a gyn online about my symptoms before i decide to go in personally, because it might ease my anxiety a lot more if I knew the basics of what may be going on.

      I've had cervical cancer, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and wall thickening. I'm 46, 2 kids, and complete hysterectomy. Look at it this way, the sooner you go, the less worse it is. Catching and treating sooner makes it less deadly. Make the appointment.

      That sounds really hard, I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. I have done two part appointments before where I do the first online to just discuss how I’m doing and get the ball rolling, and then later go in person for the exam. Is this possible/would this help? Also if you want to talk through your symptoms at all let me know! I’m not a doctor and wouldn’t want to speculate but I can share my experiences if that would help!
