Dealing with Grief: Coping with the Loss of a Friend

Mine died two years ago. I don't think it will ever completely go away. It will just be a hole in our hearts and sometimes we remember how much it hurts

I lost what I perceived as a great, loving father, but later found out he was a monster (let’s just say he has over 200 years of prison time). I lost him a year ago this month and it’s been so hard for me to deal with the grief of losing who I thought was my best friend and was always there for me. I hate myself for loving him after his monstrous crimes, but it’s how I feel and I’ve got to accept that. I try to think what I’m thinking and let whatever emotions overtake me do it’s thing now. I cry, I write about it in a journal and I move on and try not to think of the bad things unless they come into my mind on their own accord. I think of him everyday and somedays are better than others. There’s days I can smile from a nice memory we had together and others where the smallest thing makes me break down into tears and I spiral. All of that is okay and it’s okay to feel whatever emotions you have have grieving, no matter the situation. I wish much love and recovery to you on your journey!

Me too about my best friend. She died in 2017 and it still hits me bad randomly. I try to think of all of our good times and just cry it out.
