I need some advice!!! my brother is going to be moving in with me and I'm terrified. i have a deathly fear of living with men, hes a drug addict which scares me, he tortures me and tried to SA me when I was younger. I really really really dont want to be around him and I'll probably end up hiding in my room but my door doesn't lock and I have to get ready for college. what should I do I'm freaking out.

luckily you’re going to college soon but PLEASE PLEASE tell someone in your house what you’re dealing with and what happened. it helps so much and you need that extra protection

Try a restraining order against him and the judge MAY tell him that he can not live with you at all and to stay far away. I went through a similar experience and I'm so sorry you have to go through it too. You'll get through this and this will pass. Don't be afraid to get the court involved, especially if he has prior convictions. I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Stay safe.

New lock and key for your door. Maybe even try and stay with a friend? I'm so sorry this is happening. I understand what ur going thru and I hope you find a way to stay safe.

Im so sorry you have to live with that stress. My abuser would break the things I love, so what I would do is hide the things I cherished and leave out the things I could potentially part with. Before you leave for college take pictures of your room to see if anything is missing when you come back, so you'll have proof. If you can't lock your door, then have pepper spray with you at all times for protection! You can try to Google if there's ways to lock your type of door without an actual lock too. Stay strong, you'll get through this!

You should be able to put a chair under door handle to keep it from opening up
@Heaven197987 it opens outwards 😥
would it be possible if you could reach out to some ppl that yk to tell the abt your situation?
@junitree no I dont have any friends... and I dont really want to see my dad rn
@Lucas.exe tell the authorities
Is it possible for you to stay with a friend or contact a local organization that helps in domestic violence cases like this? I would definitely get out as soon as possible. Bring your valuable things and get out quickly. Stuff can be replaced, but you cannot. Your health and safety matter. Please take care of yourself.

@Cece7 I wish I could but i dont have any friends lol. I just wish my door had a lock
@Lucas.exe you should install multiple locks on your door if you can’t go anywhere. But I would bet if you contact a church or local shelter they would be able to help you find a place to stay until you move!
Please stay safe. This would be my worst nightmare, and I'm so sorry you have to live with that.
Is it just going to be you and your brother? If you're letting him live in your own house and it doesn't belong to someone like your parent or caretaker, I'd highly advise that you put your own mental health first. You shouldn't attempt to cute anyone else if you don't feel safe first. Please stay safe as much as you can 🥺
@Bluefire my brother has been kicked out of my dads house many times but this time was the last straw because he broke into my dads house destroyed things with a sledge hammer and stole my dads gun. My mom thinks it's a good idea to leave him in her house alone with me. I'm so scared. And I'm scared to leave my stuff alone with him because he is famous for stealing and selling people's stuff to buy drugs. I'm leaving for school in 2 weeks so hes gonna have all access to everything I own and will be alone in the house to steal anything he wants.
I highly recommend buying a new door handle and replacing it. Just make sure it's the same shape wall piece and that you save the old handle of you're renting
@Sunflower.System and my door swings out so I cant block it with anything
@Sunflower.System I cant it's a really old door. Even if I could hes coming tonight.
