I get like that more at night. I watch tv or read to keep from “hearing it” too loudly. I’ve also found exercise helps a lot.

I'm still trying to manage them, but here are some things that I do (other than taking medication): breathing exercises and grounding exercises listening to soundscapes (like the sound of rain or wind, etc.) drawing something inspired by my thoughts playing video games writing or typing my thoughts out talking to someone who understands these thoughts (you can message me as well if you're comfortable) listening to music (preferably something heavy but something calm is also helpful) I hope that these are helpful, I'm sorry that you have to deal with intrusive thoughts :(

I try to write down my intrusive thoughts when they overwhelm me. I try to write them ALL out, read them a couple of times, and then I try to leave those feelings and thoughts on the paper. I have been trying to realize when my thoughts take over, and redirect before it completely overwhelms me and sends me into a mood/spiral. I still struggle every day, but something has changed recently and it's getting easier to keep control over. I take sertraline 200mg and lamotrigine 200mg, and they do help me a significant amount, but it's more for maintenance, my breakthrough or unpredictable moments are completely up to me to mentally control. But I try to acknowledge, document, re-read, step back, and redirect. Brad Mondo is a wonderful resource for complete mental redirection and disrupting the intrusive thoughts and runaway moods (in my experience).

I have become more aware that I have habits to unlearn. When you get to this point you can look at yourself and self talk like "we don't do that anymore we do things this way now" I'm so emotional easily because of all the change but it's needed

@sabbymer ive realized this too! I will start crying at the drop of a hat. However crying does give me release. It maybe temporary but it does give me peace

Honestly medical marijuana helped me. It really slows those thoughts down and doesn't make them such a "big part" of my thoughts process. I still get them occasionally but nothing like it was. Also exposing the irrational thought...think it out and talk yourself through it. It seems like a lot of work but I promise it gets easier

@boymom22 how old do you have to be to have that?

@boymom22 i was thinking of trying this alot of people say it helps. I truly do not want to be on any medication but at times its like my brain is on overdrive

@shia33 I've tried at least 5 different anxiety/depression meds and they all make me feel awful...this was my last resort and it paid off
