I only take plant based products. Slumber terepene, sleep spray helps me sleep in 30 minutes and have the best restful night sleep ever.

Get some amber sunglasses and put them on 3 or 4 hours before bed. They helped break my imsomnia.

I have also suffered with PTSD. Recently I have come to the conclusion that it is NOT a disorder. When you take a human being and put them through trauma, you end up with someone who has been exposed to something very bad and they do not know how to deal with it. It is not a disorder. It is natural for a person to react negatively to something bad. That’s how we are built. The disorder is put there so the big pharma can sell you a pill under the false prescription that you are some how flawed. You are not flawed. It is natural to get stressed over something bad happening in your life. What worked for me is called reframing. I read about this in a book by Elaine Aron, The Highly Sensitive Person. When you can reframe, look at the situation from a different perspective, it can make you feel completely different about what happened to you. It worked great for me. No more PTS post traumatic stress. That’s what it is, stress.

@Chuckster this however doesn't work for everyone. While I like your mental framing on it, its unfortunately a disorder for many. I was verbally abused growing up and physically abused, so the second someone raises a hand by me, I have a panic attack. Someone raises their voice, I have a panic attack. I've tried for years to make this stop, but for me, no amount of reframing how I think about it is going to help. Now I don't take meds for it, but Many who have daily triggers do need medication.

@livvie361 I don’t believe that you speak for everyone and to make a blanket statement like that tells me exactly where you are at with your past. And continuing to call something a disorder when it is not is the worst kind of deception. I consider you statement as an attack on something good that has a lot of potential. That is a mentality that I am very accustomed to. I carried it for over twenty years. When you finally have enough of the negative attitude only then will you decide to make a change. Considering that J take your comments as an attack I will not post here again. Nor will I respond to anything you have to say. I’ve been where you are at and I am fully aware that until you decide to change, there is nothing no one can say to you that will make any difference at all. You stay in attack mode in order to justify how you feel because no one understands what you have been through and just so you know NO ONE WILL EVER UNDERSTAND what you have been through. That is your burden alone. I wish you the best of luck my friend.

I'm currently on a mix of sedatives prescribed for my PTSD, but before then I drank Sleepy Time Extra almost daily. On bad nights I would use valerian root capsules. I also have alarms and smart devices set up to help cue me going through my night routine. The routine steps have been helping me to get sleepy even when I dont want to be 😂 Tart cherry juice is supposed to have really good benefits for sleep, I like it mixed with sprite when in not in the mood for tea.
