After my visit with my primary care doctor about my weight, I called the place she recommended for surgery and for help and set up an appointment with them. They later contacted me via email to do paperwork and some videos to go over treatments and different surgeries, like bypass and sleeve, could be chosen. I'm happy that I'm finally making a move towards a better life and better me but I'm also terrified. It all seems very scary to me because of my anxiety and because I have a hard time with changes to my daily routine. Did anyone else felt like this or are feeling like this too and is it normal?

I had a gastric bypass in 2013. I weighed 365. When I saw how high my weight was I said to myself, "365 is nearly 400 pounds. I'm not going to weigh 400 pounds." I immediately began looking for different ways to loose weight. I decided on a gastric bypass. I lost 70 pounds prior to the bypass and now in 2022 I am about 135'pounds less. I've gained and lost the same 30 pounds a couple of times due to stress. I KNOW now that I will never be that heavy again. I will not let that happen. I love my family (2 sons and 5 grandchildren) too much to allow it to happen again. I want to be alive and healthy for as long as I can. I have never regretted my gastric bypass. I'm grateful every day for life and for my continued wins over weight!!

This is very normal! Surgeries can be very scary, and you fear is understood. Sleeve and bypass surgeries considered to be very safe with extremely low rate of complications. In any case, you should bring these fears up with your surgeon. Good luck!

Change is always difficult, just remember the positives that will come with it. šŸ‘
