How do you deal with the pain of chronic pancreatitis? I find myself in the ER at least every couple of weeks because the pain is so bad.

My first acute attack was 8mths long. Lost 80 lbs in 4 mths. After a few weeks labeled chronic but get acute on top of chronic a lot. Have had many endo and colonoscopy done. No answers. None. If I have one more doctor say, I see you have idiopathic chronic pancreatitis.... what caused this? So beyond frustrating.

I used to go to the ER a lot as well. Not so helpful for CP. I changed my diet to plant based. Over time this has lessened the flare ups. I drink homemade ginger tea. Take Tramadol for pain. Use CBD cream on my stomach for pain too

No he said it's chronic which means it's pretty bad. I have the same thing and the pain is so bad it's unbearable. There's not anything you can do but go-to the er when it comes on. But set an appointment for the G.I. doctor. They will scopenyour stomach and find out what it really is..I have an appointment coming up soon. Wish me luck as I wish you all the luck

If you're in the ER every few weeks I'm thinking you might have stones built up. Have you had an endoscopy done?

Every time I have a bad flair up I try not to eat anything and just drink water for at least two days. Gives it time to calm down. But I don’t feel like you should be having that many flair ups. Have they done a CT scan?
If you are careful about what you eat no fats, grease etc it shouldn't bother you, but if it is than they need to do something big time! Bad thing is you can't remove your pancreas...so....🫤

@DmewNana oh yes they can remove your pancreas! Most won’t because it will make you diabetic. They can also remove part of your pancreas (called a Whipple procedure). I’ve had a Whipple. I had hoped it’d be a cure all, but it’s not. It has significantly decreased my symptoms though. I’ve been to the ER but haven’t been hospitalized for a year and a half now.
