just a little annoying psychiatrist rant. I had an appointment with Mt psychiatrist today and I had to talk to her about changing up my meds to ones that are more pregnancy safe because my husband and I want to start a family within the next year or so. My psychiatrist adamantly did not want to make any changes to my meds without having my most recent blood work and EKG from my primary doctor and having me 100% off caffeine (I work at a very popular coffee chain that's not happening). She's convinced that my panic attacks will be simply out of control without my current meds if I don't drop the caffeine and is extremely concerned for me going into a manic episode. I have bipolar 2, I've rarely had full manic episodes its usually hypomabia and I tend toward depression even without meds. Why be so concerned about a mania? Literally I generally speed clean when I'm manic with a little impulsiveness. I finally got her to agree to work on tapering off one of my meds (that I don't want to be on anyway). She's trying to make it so I never have a panic attack and that's not really my biggest concern.
