I have been on Dexilant and Prilosec. I've been out for about a week but have mental reasons, that don't make sense, why I haven't refilled.🤦🏼‍♀️ Anyway, I have thick mucus I'm trying to get out of my throat and sticky mucus in my nose. Who knew acid reflux can cause that. But I've seen a pattern. I had it before the meds. Not while on the meds. And now it's back

I struggle with this issue as well where I produce a lot of mucus. I also have been diagnosed with asthma and my pulmonolgist helped figure out it was my body's reaction from the acid reflux coming up at night when I lay down and going into my lungs. When this happens your airways get irritated therefore creating the mucus lining that you cough up. With this understanding we've used this to help understand when my acid reflux is controlled or not as I don't have very many noticeable symptoms. By adjusting medications as getting me on a better routine for acid reflux it was able to help with the cough and mucus lining.

This happened to me a lot in the beginning too. I ended up having to have my esophagus stretched (which I now get done yearly), and that helped stop most of the mucous.
