I went to the bathroom five times in three hours. It felt like back to back. The more I went, there was more pain. I do drink fluids and it is not always water. Any suggestions to have more relief and less urgency?

@SweetVanillaCupcake from the article it sounds like they use biofilm dissolvers to reduce the biofilm at that particular time. However, I’m also interested to see if they will come up with something that will rid the biofilms permanently.

I just want to share with people suffering with IC this website. https://liveutifree.com/interstitial-cystitis-treatment/ Long story short IC might actuality an infection, but of pathogens that are not cultured in regular UTI tests. There is a new test that can test for other microbes called microgen dx. https://microgendx.com/urology-uti/ I did it and had some pathenogenic microbes in my bladder. They are also issues with biofilms making it hard to kill pathenogenic microbes. Hope this can help some people.

@Grasshopper73 thank you for sharing this article! This gives me another option and is something I will definitely speak to my doctor about.

@Grasshopper73 were you able to get rid of those microbes/biofilms?

I used to take prescription medications for my IC, but one thing that works wonders and has a natural tendency to decrease inflammation is Chamomile tea. When I have a flare up, I drink this for 1-2 days and the pain is gone.
I have quite a few suggestions due to experience but before I get into it, have you been diagnosed with IC? Or do you know if you have a UTI by any chance? Feel free to message me if you need to talk!

I take a low dose of amitriptyline and it has worked wonders for me. Ask your uro gynecologist or primary about it.

@TANKGlRL does this help with urgency and frequency ?
I found a supplement that changed my life with IC. Obviously I can’t say it will work for everyone but for me it was a game changer. It’s called Bladder Ease by Vitanica. I haven’t had a single flare since I started taking it and now I just take it as needed but I hardly ever need it.
Everyone's IC is a little different. For example- coffee tends to restrict the blood flow to my bladder and actually helps my pain a lot (I take prelief with coffee). When I was younger, coffee was really irritating. Tomatoes don't trigger me, but msg, citric acid, or paprika in anything triggers a flare up. Diluting any fluids really helps. I drink an absurd amount of blueberry tea every day. I pee often, but frequency is partially just because I have had IC sooo long, but it is no longer painful because I keep very well hydrated and only let myself go when my bladder is actually full.
Do you have IC ? Do you have pee test strip to see if you have aUTI ?
With Intercystical cystitis it is not good to drink things with caffeine in them.
@Shinoda Even tea, coffee, nor soda?? 😥
@MsDaisyMae No coffee, tea, or soda that has caffeine. Eating no chocolate, nuts, tomato sauce. Those are the things that make IC worse in me.
@MsDaisyMae Yes
