hi. my first anxiety attack was in February 2022 at work. i was feeling sick, my heart felt like it was going to stop, feeling dizzy and nauseous. after that, it happened again March, where i actually felt like i was having a heart attack and called an ambulance. i thought it was acid reflux, but not only till i was rushed to the hospital a 2nd time, my worst attack 3 days later. my stomach, arms and legs were numb, i felt like i couldnt breathe and was dying. they told me it was anxiety and that my heart was healthy and gave me lexapro for my anxiety. i was on it for a few weeks then got off of it safely but after a month when i got a new job and started working this May, the symptoms returned. chest tightness, sharp neck, shoulder, chest pain, painful/difficulty swallowing, pins and needles, yawning, difficulty taking in deep breaths and palpitations increased once i started lexapro again around 4-5 days ago. i started taking it without supervision because i started having painful chest tightness, pain in the neck and shoulders, palpitations and difficulty breathing. i dont have a primary care doctor and all i have is medicaid. i don't know how to get off this medication without going to the hospital or cold turkeying it, but the symptoms are worrying me.

If you are just taking Lexapro and not a benzo, you're safe to come off. Typically, it is nice to be able to taper it like lowe dose, every other day, but that's just so we don't get the rebound anxiety. Tons of docs take your insurance and will prescribe this for you. In fact, there are online docs who will do this as well. I'm so sorry you're struggling. That was me 30 years ago. Please, when you can, have your A1c checked. I was misdiagnosed with anxiety for 30 years, found out 3 years ago I was diabetic. I started eating right, and my anxiety and panic barely exist anymore. Please feel free to message me anytime.

@UCBree I agree with this. Also please find a doctor. They will help you start in the right direction. Lexapro and a therapist, psychiatrist, or a counselor will help you get through this. I go through the same anxiety as you do except I've been experiencing it since I was 6 years old. I'm almost 21 and got diagnosed 2 years ago.
