I'm struggling to clean my house because I'm in a major depression funk right now and I know it'll pass and I try my best to keep up with it but it just ends up overwhelming me but I live with my boyfriend and he has OCD so everything becoming a mess is just stressing him out and straining our relationship and killing our sex life how in the hell am I supposed to do all this he literally called me disgusting how can I make cleaning up easier when I could just lay out in the street and couldn't care less.

@Skipeople This ^. If timed tasks don’t work, think about something small you can do. Maybe your sink has hairs and soap scum built up around the lip so take a wet paper towel and wipe it off. It doesn’t need to be scrubbed if you don’t have the energy, but a once over with a paper towel will make it look nicer so next time you wash your hands you don’t have to see it looking as bad as it did. Maybe there’s somewhere else that could use a light dusting or has a glob of caked on dust that can be removed with a wet towel and a few seconds. Next time you’re already up and see something that takes minimal effort and time try to do it before laying back down. It’s not world changing and probably won’t lead to a burst of cleaning energy, but it might help you feel a little better when you look at a spot you cleaned and you can pay yourself on the back. Any improvement is better than none, no matter how small compared to the rest of the chores and work that needs to be done

Get someone to body double like people with ADHD do. It helps me.

Can I just say, that I totally and completely feel what you are going through. I have been there and it is such a hard and terrible place to be. One thing my therapist had me do was set a timer for however long I thought I could handle (I started with 3 minutes, then 5, then 8, then 10 . . . You get the idea) and I would do one task that needed to be complete until the timer ran out. And then I would take a timed break. Then I would go back to that task and work on it some more. I would do this until I was done with that one task. And honestly, some days I got more than one task done while others I got none completed, but it forced me to get moving and for me, it helped my mood some because I felt like I was actually getting somewhere with things. I also love making SHORT to do lists because crossing shit off feels so good. And even if I only get one thing done that day, it was stilla good day because I knew I was trying my best and that that was good enough for that day.
