I had a therapy appointment today for my anxiety and depression and basically the counsellor went "ah your anxiety and depression have spiked so I can't help you, you should be in a better place by this point, so I recommend you go away, then come back in three months when things in your life have calmed down, only then will therapy work for you" basically saying therapy wouldn't work because there were too many things in my life stressing me out... Like... Ain't that the point of therapy though 😐 so now I'm stuck here feeling extremely stressed and depressed and she's just abandoned me, fair to say I wasn't happy about it 😐 -😍

yeah that's definitely not a good response,, that therapist has no idea what she's talking about. a huge part of therapy is learning skills to help you cope with life at its worst points. if she thinks she can only help people when they're "better" then what is she even doing there? i'm sorry you have to deal with that :(

That's some BS from your therapist right there. Totally unethical as well. There's no concept of 'should' be better by now, everyone has their own recovery journey and there's ups and downs along that path. Take it easy on yourself, there will be a therapist out there that suits you, it may just take a while and a few bad experiences before you find that one (if you decide to continue with therapy that is).

Conveniently, you should definitely stop seeing anyone who says that BS, so they've just quickened the process. You deserve better, friend ❤️

Totally unprofessional. Time for a new therapist! I'm sorry and hope you can find someone better for you.

I'm so sorry she said that to you, that's very unprofessional. Therapists should be there for the good and bad times.
