I know my alters they've never hurt anyone but I'm not sure if it's a good thing to have them sometimes I barely notice whenever I switch over

these are most likely going to be persecutors, or in other words, misguided protectors. they're often still stuck in whatever abuse they've endured and still in that environment and the only way they know how to survive is to keep inflicting pain, either on themselves or the body and mind of their system mates

@Alley_Fantasia so my alters are suffering?

@SarahShirley We have also experienced this in our system. One of the main antagonist and persecutor was acting out because he was hurting from bearing the brunt of our trauma. Since therapy we have learned to help him open up by accepting him and letting him know we are here for him and he doesn't have to hurt alone anymore. We get through this together. He's had a very productive turn around and is now an actively and positively engaged alter in day to day life. It takes time and patience a grace towards yourself and your alters.

@SarahShirley they can be. I'm not a professional in the field by any means, I'm just going based off experiences - mine and others - as well as the research I've done

one thing that should get straightened up. right away - and I don't mean this in a mean or condescending way at all, mind - is that none of them are inherently dangerous/evil/bad. the most "danger" an alter will cause is SH because they're hurting too.
