I have two new symptoms. One, I have heightened smell, and everything makes me gag. And two, I get stuck in a trance, like a daydream but I blackout. I am not pregnant and double-checked. I have IBS and PCOS along with depression and anxiety. But what would randomly cause these two? Sometimes the gagging comes from nowhere. And the trances have been caught by my family. I don't recall all of them. Docs have no clue and I've been through so many blood tests.

Do you take any prescription medication for the depression and anxiety?

I get sensitive to smell before and after migraines, and these trances could be quite severe bouts of dissociation

Woah this is crazy because I've gotten black outs, a heighten gag reflex, and now I have REALLY bad migraines along with new severe backpain. I'm not pregnant or have any New Conditions. I'm going to see a neurologist to see if there's something wrong. The best thing you can do is check your brain/nerve health.

I noticed that my sense of smell has heightened since I’ve been medicated for ADHD; it’s like my autistic sensory sensitivities are on full blast if I’m taking a stimulant. It could also be an increase in stress that causes your body to go into hypervigilant mode. As for the trances, that also sounds to me like something that happens when my ADHD meds wear off. It’s like, as much as I want to move and do something else, I am trapped just staring at the wall or ceiling. It’s a feeling not unlike executive dysfunction, but you may want to seek some sort of testing to see where this is coming from for you.

The trance thing sounds like possibly disociation, I struggle with it a lot when my anxiety and PTSD are getting bad again.

@cozybunbun i would ask for a referral to a neurologist, see if they can find triggers if theres things that trigger these trances. see if they're mini seizures, it sounds alot like them which is concerning but hopefully youll get an answer. also try to see if your family can capture them on recording if they haven't already.

@Ink789 I haven't been able to go to any in-person appointments for over a year. I live in a rural area without a car, and my partner works an hour away so he's gone a minimum of 10 hours a day. We're trying to get a solution to our transportation issue so I can start going, I have a list of doctors I need to go to 😩

This absolutely sounds, to me, like a seizure. My daughter has epilepsy and presents with many different types of seizures from absent seizures to Grand Mal seizures. Absent seizures or petite seizures can look like a trance. I would definitely see a neurologist that specializes in seizures. Please don’t wait.
