I have recently been trying to find holistic measures and stray from medications as well as keep my mental health in check as I try to make healthier choices. My biggest set backs are my inability to lose weight and having zero energy. Any suggestions you've tried that helped?

I have hashimoto's, ehlers danlos, and fibromyalgia which all make weight loss feel impossible but I promise it's not. The biggest issue is that most people go to fad diets or unsustainable restrictive eating. Unless your body is retaining excessive amounts of fluid, being in a caloric deficit is guaranteed to make you lose weight. The Facebook group Macros Inc. is extremely helpful when it comes to teaching you how to properly and accurately count calories (going by serving size on the box is usually wrong and weighing everything in grams or ounces is significantly more accurate). They also talk about how different macro ratios may affect you and what ratio to use depending on your health, activity level, build, and other factors. Personally I do best on a higher fat/lower carb/moderate to high protein. Just to be Transparent tho, they do offer coaching but the group does not require you to be one of the Macro Inc coaches clients. However if you do decide you want a coach they are one of the more affordable coaches available and are not scammy and predatory from what I've heard. What has helped me the most with energy levels is ensuring I get enough micronutrients either from supplements or eating a variety of foods. While on the topic of supplements taking PQQ, L-theanine, 5-htp, and turmeric have all improved my mental wellbeing and in return gave me more motivation to make the difficult decision of doing a workout or going for a walk. Not saying those will work for you but they all contributed to me feeling better and giving me the boost I needed to make that first step. I've also found the more active I am consistently the more energy I have. Even if that activity is something small. What helped build me up to being more active was Chigong and tai chi. It is meditative, provides stretches that aren't as intense as something like yoga, and gets your body moving in a little to no impact way. It's also easy to shorten or extend the routine on a whim with how you are feeling during it. And because it is a form of meditation I feel like it also boosts my energy. Being unmotivated isn't a bad thing and most people quit when they have a bad day or feel unmotivated or have a lack of drive. You need to be comfortable having a bad day and realizing a bad day doesn't ruin an entire week. Take those days to rest or do a hobby or simply spend time with yourself. Find you a motivational person to lean on but don't accidentally trick yourself into needing their validation and support to stay motivated. Remember that you are doing this for yourself and your health, no one else's.

I am in the same wellness journey as you. I found the the perfect vitamins that had helped me feel amazing and lose weight too.

I began listening to podcasts, YouTube, and immersing myself. By allowing input by those that think like I wanted to think. It's like you are a product of your environment. If you are antisocial or not amongst those who can be motivational, you may tend to put your desires on the back burner. Do it now while you are young. I said I was going to do it for years, quit smoking, excercise, make life style changes. I am a procrastinator. Not until diagnosed with kidney cancer in Nov. 2021, did I smack my face (figuratively) and say well this might be your last chance. Straighten up and fly right. If you are on thyroid meds. Start there. So many times a mismanaged underactive thyroid affects, mentation, digestion, flexibility and many factors leading to low motivation. Learn about iodine supplementation. I have found that a motivational person is great if they go through the journey with you. You then turn into their coach.

Learn how to pace yourself. Even if you feel like a million dollars to do housework, flare ups aren't worth the trouble. Good luck!!!

I have a lack of motivation too, and my sister, who we live by ourselves also struggles a lot with losing weight. It's much easier said than done, but it really helps trying to find anyone who can help motivate you. If that person isn't physically present, I can try and help over the cloud ☁️:D

@lorax Some of the things that helped me is having a day or two where I don't leave my room, I'll sit in bed as long as I want them force myself to clean and change some things around, put some stuff in goodwill, let myself do what I want to waste my time on doing that isn't sitting on my phone. Then after your room(or living room or backyard, wherever) is in a nice condition, after one day or 4 however long it takes you.

@lorax I always feel so guilty when I take a day of down time and things pile up. I used to workout 5 days a week for 9 years straight and now everything just hurts so finding that balance has been a challenge. I appreciate the suggestion! Definitely gotta work on being guilt-free for doing what my body needs.

@lorax After you have completed this task of making your environment better for yourself. Go to a movie by yourself, go on a walk, go to a restaurant, go get a sandwich and sit in the park. It's the little milestones that are the most important to celebrate
