Hello I would like to know what helps the most with this condition. I started doing core exercises with a physical therapist recently . Any ideas? I also get a neuropathy in my legs and they go numb if I stand too long . Will this eventually get better?
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with this too! It has been painful for me too. I was just diagnosed with this condition. From what my neuro-surgeon has explained to me, the slipped vertebra won't naturally move back into place and over time will put more strain on the surrounding ones.
I can't speak for your condition and I would highly recommend getting multiple opinions from specialists in this field before making a decision on treatment, but for me the only option was surgery. I hope you can find something that helps!!
I've refused surgery because the odds are the the pain may not be affected due to the length of time I've had this problem. Also 50/50 on paralysis. As of now, I get quarterly epidural injections and annual nerve burning (RFA) and that has allowed me a considerable amount of relief. I'm not pain free but there's no more curling in a ball and crying through the pain at the end of the day. Biofeedback helps too. It's a lot of breathing exercises. Also cold water therapy. I take a lukewarm shower, slowly reducing the heat until it's all cold water, then sit and plug the tub til the water covers my mid back. 15 minutes later, I get out. For 4 to 6 hours I'm practically pain free. Shivering reverses the effects. Don't stay in long enough to start shivering. I hope some of this helps.
I’m sorry you’re having this problem. My legs would get numb and tingle if I stood too long. If I was on my feet for more than 5 min I would fall and not have the strength to get up. Lots of calls to the ambulance crew in our small town to get me up. I saw the Chief surgeon at a spine Center. He told me he could operate but since I was so short 5’ 0”, surgery would paralyze my arms, legs or, I would wake from surgery permanently blind. And the surgery only had a 30% chance that it would be successful anyway. That was my 2nd opinion. As a result, I’ve been in a wheelchair since 2010. I can stand, pivot and stand for a few minutes before the pain makes me sit down again. I hope you are able to find some answers that help you.
