Is anyone else still angry years after escaping their abuser(s)? I'll always have damage both mental and physical to remind me of my past and I'm still angry 8 years later. Will I stop being angry?

I'm so sorry. Yeah unfortunately between dealing with my physical health and working I've really not had any time for outlets, could be an issue

My abuser also hurt my best friend, worse than he did me. Im no longer angry about what he did to me - although I'm still processing the trauma, but the anger i have for what he did to my best friend.... It will last forever.

@Aaronb03 I think that finding healthy outlets for the anger will help work through it.

hi! i left my abuser roughly two years ago and for me, the anger never STOPS, but it does settle down. when i think back to my abuse, i’m still angry— but not so much that it consumes me. just remember that everyone’s experiences are different. some people primarily feel sadness, and some people primarily feel anger— but regardless of what you’re feeling, how much you’re feeling it, or how often you feel it, your emotions are still valid.

@superstellar Thank you, it's both a relief and very sad that I'm not alone

My abuser has been dead for over ten years, and I had escaped long before that, and I am still angry when I think of them. I think as long as the hurt remains, the anger will too. And I don't know that I will ever be able to forgive. But I am hopeful that as healing happens for me, the strong painful emotions will fade.

One day this will pass. You have every right to be angry. You feel the way you do for a reason. Hugs love. ☮💙🖤💜🌟🕯

I don't really think that it ever stops, you were hurt. You deserve to be angry.

@Dolly_Bunn yeah I'm just getting tired of that being my main emotional when remembering my past, which is unavoidable
