I get like that sometimes! It's definitely people pleasing behavior for me and it might be for you, too. When I was younger I felt like I had to be the positive, neutral party in the house because my mom and older brother always got heated very quickly. This usually manifests into me desperately not wanting to create any tension and therefore not getting involved or taking a strong stance. I've been working on unlearning it lately and am getting better at stating my needs and opinions. Not sure if it's a similar situation for you or not but I can assure you that you're not an asshole for experiencing symptoms of your anxiety. You're not alone and I hope this makes you feel a bit better 😊
