does anyone else question how valid their mental health issues are? I've been diagnosed but I don't think I've ever accepted that I have anxiety or accepted that I have depression. Even with it staring me right in the fact there are always people who have it worse, who have worse scars than me or are unhealthier than me and I can't even accept help without knowing those resources could be helping someone with much worse isssues. is this normal?

Yes, it's normal~ Denial is a very big part of mental illness as it's not something you can outwardly see such as a broken leg or missing hand. It's still there and it's still impacting you, it's just invisible. People may "have it worse," but the thing is... We aren't the same, nobody is. Each individual will go through life with all kinds of perceptions, feelings, and experiences that nobody else will feel the same way. Good health is not a competition, but a journey. You deserve help like anyone else who's going through life. We must take our own pace to be comfortable, safe, and happy. There's no race to recovery, love~ Take care and reach out if you ever need to talk.

https://youtu.be/vQWDRHw-cXc This is my favorite video about mental health. It's from a First Responders perspective, but it is all very true, relevant and told in an amusing manner. I hope it encourages you and gives you something to make you smile. Like Leebit said, it isn't a race. Take each step of grief and recovery at a time. If you ever need to talk, my DMs are open! Sending hugs!!!

It's all perspective. My scar might be a scratch for me when it's deep for you. Honoring the existence of your experience and trying not to compare it is what's important. The phrase turning a mountain into a mole hill doesn't make sense. What if I am an ant staring at an impossible mountain.
