@Zil gabapentin causes dry mouth, which can lead to all kinds of dental problems if you don't take care of it, but dry mouth is extremely manageable. there are no other adverse effects of long-term use of gabapentin that have been studied in a clinical context of longer than five months, but use of gabapentin for longer than five months is perfectly safe as long as the patient isn't experiencing any adverse side effects of the medication

I actually started gabapentin for pain and found that it helped significantly with my RLS. when I do have episodes, I usually have my partner massage whatever muscles hurt the most, since I can't walk anymore to try to find relief that way. When I was a kid I used to literally fall asleep walking around, my mom would come into the kitchen to get ready for work and find me fast asleep, pacing around the kitchen table šŸ˜…

After augmenting on Tramadol I found an amazing neurologist who knows what she's doing with RLS. I've been off the tramadol and taking Methadone for about a year and a half now and I very rarely have symptoms anymore. I went from having it 24/7 in my whole body to almost no symptoms. It's been incredible and I agree with you. Do research and find a neurologist who specializes in RLS. The difference in treatment is night and day!

I've had RLS for several years now. I have a neurologist, am on 3 different meds , and I take magnesium to supplement. This manages my RLS . I suggest you get a neurologist to start . Without one, it's going to be hard to manage your symptoms. That's my advice. If I can help in any other way, let me know.
