My daughter is 19 and is having fainting spells and chest tightness. After many trips to the ER by ambulance and many test including the table tilt test She is now diagnosed with POTS . She's prescribed a salt pill and compression stockings. Can anyone relate to this ? Any advice at all? This has been very scary! thank you
Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS)
✋yes. Just hydrate take the salt and don't overdo anything physically/ take lots of breaks. I take propranolol and it has helped a lot to keep my vitals stable if somewhat low. It took some time but I'm a lot more comfortable and managing things now. :)
thank you. She's also seeing a cardiologist, they wanna put a heart monitor on her for 30 days just to confirm that nothing else is going on. How many passing out episodes do you experience now vs before ?
Now I pass out maybe a few times a year. They tend to happen in clusters, nothing for months and then a couple times in 1 or 2 days. I still have other symptoms crop up, like chest pain, a few times a week but it's bearable
Yes! I went through the same exact thing! Also get a blood pressure cuff (I got a wrist one) if you haven't already. The socks really do help tremendously too. I wish her luck! 🤗
I'm sorry I've been so busy and dealing with my own diagnosis too but I do appreciate all the feed back and I'll get back in touch with you guys later tomorrow. Thank u
