well I just saw my neurologist today. she put me on propranolol er 60mg capsules for headache prevention.it sounds good why I agreed also cause she told me this one can help reduce anxiety. she told me it can take a couple months to work and to maybe only take it every other day @ first until I know how I'm going to react. I am just soo scared and timid about this. oh I took my first does already. I had a very bad experience on an anxiety and depression medications in the past. I know warning signs and I think I know when to stop if need be or to cut back. I was really hoping someone can help me with their story and let me know its ok or how I should treat this. should I only do every other day or just keep on every day like the bottle says. I do want to se results asap but I don't wanna hurt myself in the process.and no I don't mean actual hurting myself like self harm.lol now I'm rambling again but please first hand advice on what to do? she gave me soo many options.oh I also just got rizatriptan 5mg ODT for migraine onset.I sware the more I think about a migraine I actually feel it coming on now lol... but seriously my life stinks
Hey I take propranalol every day. I was nervous too, but it takes away the fight-or-flight feeling of anxiety for me because is slows down my heart rate. I would take it daily as prescribed because it doesn't last in your system for 48 hours, which is why you are supposed to take it every day. I would ask your doctor about it more to help you feel more comfortable!
It's kinda hard to get ahold of her. She said every day or every other day is fine until I feel ok with it. So I guess I'll try every day once I find it again... 🥴
Yes I really lost the Rx from earlier and I don't know for sure how to get it replaced. Easiest thing I think I need to call the pharmacy and they can request it from the doc.
interesting! I find if I am late my heart starts freaking out, but I take it for a heart condition. I realize some people take it for other conditions. Best to be cautious!
Take it daily... it is also used for high blood pressure so taking it sporadically can mess with you bp
I was taking it till I got diagnosed with pots. But I was taking it for my tremor
Good to know yall. Ty
I have the same fears I don't like prescriptions my body always overreacts to them. I'm on metoprolol because it's heart specific I tried propranolol but it wasn't helping my heart as much I have a lot of tachycardia and racy heartbeat and palpitations and if it's severe and lasts more than 20 minutes it will send me into AFib. Any beta blocker though helps with anxiety because it blocks your adrenal flow and your reactions from affecting your heart. You can start every other day if you want that would get your body used to it on a slow scale and after a few days if you haven't had any terrible side effects go to everyday but start with a very low dose and give yourself 8 weeks to get used to it when I started this medication it took almost a year for my body to get adjusted enough to settle down and I know that's a long time but it's worth it the beta blockers take a while to adjust in the system and give you a therapeutic level so that you can really know how it's affecting your body. Don't give up too soon that would be the key! You're going to feel very drowsy when you first start this beta blocker I take mine first thing in the morning and right before I go to bed 12 hours apart cuz you have to eat food with it in order to absorb the constituents also you need to take CoQ10 along with your beta blocker that helps it do its job better I was told this by a chiropractor and he was right! I wish medical doctors would advise that they would get a lot better results from giving out beta blockers.
Wait what!? I'm soo confused I need to take it with food? I was told only once a day not twice at the dose I was given cause I suck@ taking pills regularly or @ the same time.
I was told the exact time isn't very important but I should take it first thing in the morning. I don't typically eat until the afternoon or consume any calories. I'm doing intermittent fasting such I told her as well and she was ok with it.
