Does anyone else with a clinical diagnosis of ADHD fit into the “quirky” neurodivergent stereotype? As popular as this stereotype is, and harmful, I have never met anyone other than myself who fits into it.

I get called quirky if the person likes me, and annoying if they don't. For the people who matter, my neurodivergent traits are just interesting parts of my personality. I've learned to embrace the fact that I'm entertaining to my family and friends because I know they're laughing with me, not at me.

hm could you elaborate on the stereotype you mean? I’ve been called “quirky” my entire life and have a clinical diagnosis for adhd inattentive

Me. I've been called quirky my whole life as well I think you mean introvert and extrovert by neurodivergant? I'm neurodivergant in that aspect. I love my time alone a little more but not much more than hanging out with people I love My father called me weird all through my childhood. He doesn't or didn't idk believe in western medicine much when I was growing up. I didn't get diagnosed until I was like 35 or something Namaste 🙏🏻 ✌🏻💕☺️

I never felt like I was quirky, more just weird. I annoyed people all the time in elementary and I didn't really understand why, and even now I hate the idea of annoying someone so much, yet I still manage to do it when I get over excited. BPD doesn't help because if I manage to annoy my Favorite Person (and these people are the most likely for me to get overexcited with) I feel so humiliated for so long. I know I also could never walk in a straight line w my dad because I kept wanting to stare at stuff, haha

I’ve also been considered quirky. But I own up to it now bc if I wasn’t quirky I wouldn’t be who I am and how uniquely I express my “quirkiness”.. I personally think “quirky” is a context word; ie “they’re quirky and cute 🥰”. Or I can imagine it being used, “ugh, they’re quirky 🙄”. Although the last example is harmful and negative, it seems to have the affect I image with the sides of “quirky”

Yes I’ve been told I’m “quirky” when I was growing up

Honestly I'm really not sure. I wouldn't consider myself "quirky" but I don't think I'm "normal" either
