My crashes after my ADHD meds start wearing off are starting to really bother me. I get extremely dissociated and the brain fog is crippling, especially when I'm supposed to be doing extrenuous physical labor at work. I'm on the starting dose of 30mg for my Vyvanse. I think I need an increase bc it's not lasting long enough. I start to crash about midday and it gets really really difficult to focus on my work. Which is a problem bc I end up walking around aimlessly, not able to focus enough on anything to just pick a task and stick to it. I also take Zoloft with my Vyvanse in the morning. Does anyone else have this med combo and do you experience the same kind of crashes? I'm very new to ADHD meds bc I was diagnosed super late. I've always had ADHD struggles and now that I have meds I feel it's better to manage except for the debilitating crashes. What's a good way to combat this while at work? Since I'm so new to ADHD treatment I don't have the proper tools or coping mechanisms to know what to do about this. It's giving me a lot of anxiety and paranoia bc I don't like using my illnesses as an excuse for lack of productivity, and I'm scared I'll lose my job if the crashes effect my ability to work. But I also know that I'm entitled to some kind of accomodations for it. I just don't know how to talk to my supervisors about having accomodations or even what accomodations are possible for this diagnosis.

I’m also on Vyvanse. 30mg a day for the past 2 years. My meds aren’t working at all anymore and I’m so frustrated. The only thing that the psych tech was willing to do was increase my sleeping pills…. My symptoms are not manageable anymore.

@Shaken_but_ok 30mg is just the starting dose... You should probably talk to your doctor about an increase.

Side note- if you're also on a antipsychotic, it is best to take the Vyvanse before the anti-p and put some distance in between them but they both work on similar parts of the brain so for some people they can cancel each other out and cause some extra side effects when they mix. I didn't know this until I stumbled upon some research about it. I now take my Vyvanse around 4 hrs before my Risperdal (anti-p) and the Vyvanse is more prominent and active and I feel the effects stronger and when I add the Risperdal it's like taking me down a peg or 2.

@E_belli yeah I take Seroquel at night and my Vyvanse in the morning. I'll switch my Zoloft to be at night as well

When I first started my ADHD meds I would experience the same crashes. While I am on a different medication, I told my doctor about it and she recommended 2 things. 1) was she could give me a 10 milligram dose to take when I start crashing to get me though the rest of my day. 2) to up my morning dose so I lasts all day. Personally I tried both

@Mad_Dog Which method worked better for you?

I used to do one pill in the morning and one pill in the afternoon rather than doing the extended release to help alleviate those crashes in the afternoons.

You could ask about taking a booster dose later in the day. I take a booster around 2 (when my morning dose starts to wear off) to help keep me focused for a few mor hours.

I'm experiencing this as well and it's an awful feeling. I just got diagnosed late as well along with Autism and my medicine (Focalin) causes me to act jittery, talkative, and basically super hyper for a few hours, and once it wears off I feel completely burnt out and tired. I heard it works very well for ADHD and all medicine works differently for others, but so far it causes me to go from overly happy and hyper to acting tired and sad. I don't know much about the medication you're on, but I do understand what you're describing and feeling and it's very similar to my symptoms as well. I asked on here a little while ago something similar to what you asked as well and was told it's pretty common for ADHD medications to do that, but it's still not fun of course. I have to take anxiety medication 30 mins to an hour after taking my ADHD medicine to help calm the symptoms down, but other than that, I'm still trying to figure it out like you are. So although I don't have the best advice since I'm also struggling with this, that's what I'm doing currently. It doesn't cure the symptoms really but it makes it semi-bearable, and I'm planning to talk to my doctor about it again soon, and I'd recommend you do the same. I hope it gets easier for you soon!

@CandyFrog I'll try taking my Zoloft a couple hours after my Vyvanse tomorrow and see if that helps. Thanks for the idea!
