I've seen a couple of people talk about feeling different, and just being different, so I wanted to share some poetry I wrote about it (i usually write when im emotional/down) - there is slight mention of s/h but nothing direct! do you ever feel, different? not the kind of different where you like another color, play a different game, or listen to another band, the kind of different thats woven into your bones. the kind of different that leaves your mouth before you say a word. the kind of different that makes people avoid eye contact when they pass you in the halls. the kind of different that makes them laugh and giggle but youre not in on the joke. the kind of different that makes you hide in the bathroom until lunch is over, keep your head down in the hallways, never raise your hand and pray you dont get called on, fake sick to get out of presentations, go home so often the number is saved in your parents phone. the kind of different that leaves them staring when you wear shorts for the first time. the kind of different that makes them come up to you at lunch with one of those looks and tells you that "they're always there if you need to talk" the kind of different that gets the school counsellor involved and all she does is tell you to join a sport. the kind of different that makes your brother cry. the kind of different that makes your mom check on you everyday. the kind of different where if you start praying to god you better hope he doesnt answer. have you ever felt different. the way the vines wrap around your bones like snakes, and the water fills up your skull until it pours out of your eyes and lands into your collarbones like waterfalls, the way the dirt softens under your touch and your feet sink into it, the roots of the trees blending into your legs and the birds come and nest like its home, the way your ribcage fills with flowers and your lungs open up to make a home for the bees, honey spilling onto every petal like rain on the leaves, the way your fingertips turn to feathers and the birds spring from your hands, flying up to nest in your hair that's turned to moss, fresh and green like the grass at your feet.
