I deal with pain continuously from degenerative bone disease and fibromyalgia, but finding a doctor, including the so-called pain doctors that will prescribe pain medicine has become impossible. Is there anyone in the Pittsburgh, Pa area who knows of a doctor who will help?

I am trying to find a pain mnmgt dr in the Findlay Ohio area as I am moving there. Once they find out that you are on medication instead of getting injections, they will not speak to you. I have no problem being weened off but I need help in doing so. I got approved for disability in 9 months which is fast but the insurance part I do not get until next year

@Tonita I found Kratom too be a nice alternative to opioids. Once you figure your dose that is, the first week I had headaches & almost gave up. Then I just got a shot glass and use one shot for 10oz reg tea(Arizona green tea) & drink all day. I went from 6, 10mg to none in 2 months. It even helps my fibromyalgia. Just take your time figuring out how much & I get it at the local Kava tea rooms. Good luck.

I've had 3 pain mgnt drs over the past 25 yrs either get arrested or pharmacy won't honor their scripts, & the yoyo would kill me. I finally found something else, kratom seems to be a comparable legal substitute, best thing is the pharmacy doesn't have a say in it.
@StarLight1 The mayo clinic and FDA, along with many other medical authorities have declared kratom unsafe. Google it.
@Yarnhooker do the pros outweigh the cons, that is how they judge. From my research if it's done in gross amounts you may get kidney trouble, I have great kidneys and have my blood drawn annually to check my levels. I'll let you know what the next blood draw says.
Have you tried a pain clinic for advice?
@RMSjohns Pain drs is the only way I have tried. Pa. passed an opiate law in 2015. It was supposed to decrease the number of opiate deaths. Actually, after the law was passed, opiate deaths increased over 35,000 in the following year. Addicts on the street don't care about laws. It only hurt people who have to deal with pain daily. It has scared doctors from being willing to prescribe.
I don’t know that area but you need to go to a pain management doctor. There are many in areas. You will not get a prescription for pain meds unless you see someone in pain management. I have had no problem with pain management giving me my meds. Some drs who are not pain management will usually try to get you weened off or not start the meds. If you find one stick with it as dr shopping is looked down on. I had one in Florida then I moved to here NH and the dr I seen did not want to give me anything so she weened me down. Once I went to pain management I have had no issues. Do not demand the meds but talk to the dr and give them your concerns. Demanding will get you know where.

I'm sorry, but I cannot provide specific doctor recommendations. It's important to consult with your primary care physician or a specialist, such as a rheumatologist, to discuss your symptoms and explore treatment options. They may be able to refer you to a suitable doctor in your area.
