Hey all. I'm on Sertraline right now, have been for like 6 years but it's not helping. The depression is awful, I don't ever want to get out of bed. I don't enjoy doing anything anymore. My relationship of 11 years is falling apart (mine and his fault). I feel like I'm a failure. I feel like I'm not showing my kid the right way to live. I feel like I'm letting her down. I have so much going on in my head constantly and I'm tired. I'm so sick of life. I want to get a job but I am TERRIFIED to even think about it. I went to a job interview the other day and almost vomited. I'm so tired all the time and I'm honestly too tired to work. I know I need to though. I need to get out of this slump. The question I got on here to ask was, what medication works best for you for your anxiety?

I beg if you, try easing off the sertraline (of course you have to do this very slowly and the side effects are horrendous). A side effect of sertraline is depression it's also highly likely to be why you are so tired you cannot function, its a barbaric drug that is only ever supposed to be used short term alongside talking therapy. Best thing I've found for anxiety is a strong and understanding support system and meditation. And if you cannot face a job interview atm, that's totally OK. It really, really is. Don't push yourself before you are ready. Your journey is your own xxx

I'm bipolar II, and I'm on antipsychotics Rexulti and Pristiq and antidepressant Trazodone daily, with Hydroxyzine as needed for anxiety. I've only been on this regimen for about eight weeks, and it took around five weeks to really start feeling a difference, but it seems to be a good combination so far.

For one, you need to talk to your doctor or psychiatrist about changing medicines, adding another, combining some and all that jazz. If it’s not working, it’s not working! Do not keep taking the same thing if it’s not helping. I don’t do well on SSRIs, and my mood only actually was affected by SNRIs and Bupropion but I also had to couple it with an antipsychotic like aripiprazole or brexpiprazole and I’m also taking bupropion for anxiety. The only way to know if something works for you is by trying it so I can’t say what will work for you nor can anyone else but you have to try something else for your survival! And you might even have to try it for six months before you know for sure if it’s wrong because they might have to keep upping the dose once a month until you’re maxed out and know for sure that it’s not the right one. I’m really sorry for you. Depression is terrible but I believe in you so much. ❤️

TW: Sertraline was the worst antidepressant for me. It caused so much depression that I almost committed suicide. I have tried 7-8 antidepressants and nothing seems to be working for me either. I took the gene sight test which helps tell you which antidepressants work with your system and which don't. I highly recommend taking it. I'm currently on fluoxetine, Buspirone, and alprazolam.

Try and speak with your GP (I’m in the UK) and see if you can try something new.

Sertraline is working well for me but I sometimes also use CBD products to help as well. It sounds like you're putting a lot of pressure on yourself. I often find the workplace overwhelming but found private tutoring suited me much better. It gave me more flexibility and I was free of managers and quarterly reviews. Hope things brighten up for you soon.

Hello! I was on Sertraline for two years, and kept upping the dose, switched to Duloxetine, and same story. Neither worked that well for me. I HIGHLY recommend speaking to a psychiatrist as mine gave me Vraylar and I am Finally living my best life!! Motivation is back, apathy is almost gone. I have depression and anxiety - Vraylar is a mood stabilizer. Keep asking questions, and keep fighting for yourself!! You got this!!

Have you tried to up the dose?

      • Exrs

@Jaydyn15 yeah. We've upped it as much as we can. And then it didn't work either so I just went back down the 100 to keep the panic attacks away.
