what meds have worked the best for you. I'm bipolar type one and tried to survive without meds but it turns out I need them

Lithium was working for me for years but it started to impact my kidney function so I had to find an alternative. I've been taking vraylar for two years now and feel the most stable I've felt my entire life! Medication for bipolar is very personalized though, so what works for me may not work as well for others. It's kind of a crap shoot.

@Dee364 Watch out for abilify. Can cause weight gain. I've been in it over 10 years. Been on prozac since last year

I take lithium, seroquel, propranolol, abilify, perprehenazine, zoloft, hydroxyzine, and prasozin. Sorry if some are spelt wrong. New phone doesn't have spelling memorize yet.

I take a small dose of zyprexa (5mg) and lamictal 150mg twice a day. Zyprexa can cause some people to be always hungry and then gain weight, but I haven't had that issue with just the 5mg.

lamictal (lamotrigine) is a life saver for me, but I also have BPD, bipolar, and GAD so use at discretion
