Any other autistic people have symptoms/experiences that aren't as talked about in awareness posts? for example, my stims arent simply flapping my hands or tapping my foot, its ripping out my hair and running around to the point of collapsing from exhaustion. stuff like that

One of my common stims is chewing. I don’t have baby chewly or any of the sort, so I chew on my tongue or the inside of my cheek until it bleeds. Other that that, that is my only harmful stim. The rest are your typical hand flapping and body rocking, I make noise as well as in sighing, popping my lips, clearing my throat, humming, and grunting.

i stim in ways that seem neurotypical. i’m a vocalist, and i find specific songs that feel good to sing (in my mouth and throat.) i’ll hyperfixate on them and i’ll sing them all day, at work, at home, in the car. it’s not the same as having a song stuck in my head, though. it isn’t the song, and it isn’t about whether i “like” the song or not. i like the way it feels in my body. i think it’s strange how people think vocal stims are simply repeating specific phrases, although they are for a lot of people (myself included) vocal stims are also singing and talking for a lot of people, too!
