Making Myself Assertive - Was I Wrong?

so today I finally made myself be assertive but I feel like a jerk. So I am currently driving over an hour to work and I am the only employee of my department. I gave my boss two options, give me a pay raise since I am the only one there and I am hemorrhaging money with gas, or transfer me to the office closer to where I live. I like my job but I need to consider my finances. I felt like such a jerk. Was I wrong for bringing this up?

      Until gas is like $2.50/gallon, it’s not unreasonable at all. But if it’s a full time job, ya still gotta tread lightly. Not very many bosses are accommodating
