Definitely for me. My parents are extremely abusive and they abused me until I left them. (And I have PTSD from them, so in a way they're still abusing me.) Now I live with my brother and he's just as bad as they are. My other sib and I are hoping to get away from him by the latest early next year. My whole family on both sides is abusive, so it's not new. But that doesn't mean I'm going to be bothered with it. They're not worth what's left of my health.

Yeah, they bring up the past and won't let it go over things I've done that they can't comprehend. Like going out with a female so I didn't have to have sex with anyone. Or going to gay clubs for men that wouldn't be interested in me.

I can say they caused a lot of my mental health problems, but not all of them, keep in mind our brain works the way it was raised till we take action and change things slowly bit surely.

With some self reflection I’ve come to understand my past actions and things I’ve put them through is the reason most of them don’t talk to me(worsened my depression as a result). By having compassion for myself while understanding that I’m human, and having the humility to realize my mistakes and how they’ve affected my loved ones; I’ve come to realize most of them just want to see me as an older happier version of myself or the person I was before depression took over and i hurt/saddened those closest to me. By practicing “self love/care” (being focal on my good qualities in the present moment) and scraping up whatever energy I have to try to become a better version of myself while not repeating the same mistakes that made them drift away; slowly but surely an older, happier version of my parents and sister came around and it’s been therapeutic in my personal on going journey with depression. Feel free to message me anytime if you can relate in any way. Even if you can’t relate and just need a friend, I’m here :)
