What are your interests? Typically there are meet ups for different interests like hiking, board games, classic cars, cooking classes, painting and etc. This is a good place to start. You can also volunteer for nonprofits and meet other people of like mind who care about the things you care about. Yoga, meditation, spiritual, and religious groups also can be a source to meet people. What does your day typically include you doing? Are you in school? What kind of job do you have if you have one?

A few years ago I started volunteering at the humane society as a dog walker (they also had an option to spend time with cats) and I made a few good friends there. I got to schedule when I was available to go and it was also great getting to spend time with the animals. I didn't have any of my own pets at the time and being around the dogs made me feel better mentally and it gave me an out if I wasn't really in the mood to be social with my new friends because I could just focus on the dog I was with. It was very rewarding for me personally and made me feel a lot less lonely in a time when I was living in a new area on my own without my family or friends around.

@koalaechidna42 thank you I've actually been thinking about volunteering at a pregnancy center ! I'm hoping maybe I will meet some people! But I love animals so this is a great suggestion!

There are services like Bumble to artificially meet people that sometimes work out, but for the most part I agree with @Another_Joe; you're probably going to have the most luck finding meaningful relationships through common ground, and class/club type environments tend to be the best for that. If you aren't in school and have time, maybe enroll in one or two courses in a local community college that interest you--you'll meet people and learning is always great for you even if you won't use what you learn

I'm meeting an online bf for the first time very soon. My suggestion is to tell yourself "I've got this. I'm brave as heck! I can't block my own happiness. I trust them." If public people stuff is the issue I suggest meeting somewhere public but no where near crowded. I like goodwill. Old people don't bother me pff ahm idk-
