Hello! I hope you are doing well! I am 27 and embarrassed and unconfident in the fact I can't drive. I have a ton of long time anxiety over everything about it. If you can relate at all please feel free to offer your advice or share your story.

I completely understand. Being framed set me back by alot and I was unable to get a license or do anything. But my own fear of driving also prevented me from trying to fight it. Now that I’m feee from the fine, I’m still afraid to drive and I’m 32.

this was a big one for me! i live in a big city, so i started off by practicing in empty parking lots at night. i then gradually worked my way up towards practicing on private residential streets. ultimately, it was my mom who booked driving lessons for me! i am now licensed, still get nervous on the road from time to time but that’s okay! mistakes happen, forgive yourself, and try and do grounding exercises while you’re in the car :)

I did a lot of practicing on less populated roads. I would try to find times when other people aren’t as likely to be out. (Early in the morning or later at night). It helped me build confidence to be able to drive on busier roads. I live in a fairly rural area so I am still very uncomfortable with city driving.

Honestly I failed my driving test 3 times before passing and now it's just a funny story. The anxiety was unreal each time and I made mistakes specifically because of it. Mistakes will happen. Let them!

I waited until I was 18 before driving & I really regret it. Driving gave me anxiety & I was afraid of getting in wrecks or doing something wrong. After a few weeks of driving, I overcame that fear & absolutely love driving now. It's great to be able to go wherever I want, whenever I want. Anyone can drive, it's just the first few weeks of practice may be difficult. You got this!
