this is a PSA announcement. if you are on a therapist directory online and you see the abbreviation "LCSW" or anything with an "SW", that means they are a social worker.

"LMFT" means Liscened Marriage and Family Therapist. (they do not only specialize in couples counseling.)

I highly recommend finding an LMFT who truly understands mental disorders, trauma work, and intergenerational patterns.

That is, unless you think a social worker would do a better job at what you need. I'm not bagging on them I'm just saying, there's a difference.

    realize. I just like Internal Systems Family Therapy (it's about genetics) but obviously especially for people who are adopted that isn't helpful at all

    There are actual PTSD and trauma therapists. I work with one. She’s a LCPC.
