Does anyone know what medication works best to keep epilepsy under control? Also I have something wrong with my right ear that causes my seizures to be worse and also trigger them.

I have been taking Lamictal 700mg daily for 10+ years now and it seems to be doing pretty well since before this med I was on 3 different anti seizure meds and my seizures where no where near controlled to the point where it was affecting my daily quality of life. It also is a secure med showing the least amount of side effects.

Everyone is different so the response is going to be different. I have been on lamictal for 20 years and it's my main drug. I also take Briviact and zonisamide. I take 200 mgs three times a day of the lamictal, and 100 mgs twice a day of Zonisamide and 100 mgs in the morning and 150 mgs at bedtime of Briviact. VNS is set at 2.5. But it's dying. It's at 35%. I have the Aspire SR. This was replaced on July 24th 2017. So it will be five years old. It has lasted longer than any other VNS I have had.

@Tweetybird Maybe try something called Briviact and/or Lamotrigine. Briviact is something like Keppra just with less mood side effects.

Everyone is so different and the type they have. One of the most common one of late is Keppra itā€™s not unusual to have more the one depending on the cause . I am a closed head injury patient and the old let i get the more difficult they are to control.I know my triggers which is a huge plus I am working on them to better my life.My Bernese mountain Doodle is a great help she detect the seizure 10-15 minutes before they occur and rolls my on my side keeps me safe. Next Iā€™ll train her to call someone. šŸ¤—
