What to Say When Going for a Mental Health Evaluation

Yeah I agree with what others have said. Tell them you are having suicidal thoughts and need help. When answering questions and seeing medical providers be sure to elaborate on the kind of thoughts, intents, and plans you may have and if you think you'd do something or just scared you might do something. It can definitely be hard to share but those are important aspects to include! You can also call the National suicide hotline (800) 273-8255 or 911 if you need immediate help.

Everyone else is saying honesty but they can't help you or accurately treat you if you aren't honest so that is the main thing!

When you go to check in at the hospital, just quietly tell them you're having suicidal thoughts and need help.

Just be 100% transparent with them about what it is you're going thru. Don't be ashamed to seek help. Suicidal thoughts are nothing to make light of & I'm glad you're thinking about seeking help. I'll be checking back to see how your getting along. I'm proud of you and never forget you matter!
